Downtown Condos and Lofts
Throughout downtown, along Town Lake, south into South congress Avenue (SoCo), and into East Austin, luxury condominiums and hip urban lofts are being built, changing the Austin skyline, and quickly changing the way hundreds, even thousands will define their "residential lifestyle" for years to come! These current and upcoming urban residential projects are as diverse in their style as they are in their make-up. Several of these projects are being designed by architectural firms that would make anyone's "Who's Who Best Architectural Firms" list in America!
Some of these units will be for lease only, while others will sell for as much as $6,000,000; some will be small studio-like units with minimal amenities, while others will be 2000sf+ units with gourmet kitchens, travertine stone, private balconies and/or garden areas, exercise facilities, patios, spas, and sky-high views of the Capitol; some will be one-story units that will exit onto Congress Avenue, while others will be built over retail and/or fancy restaurants; and one boasts of having a rooftop terrace and "possibly the tallest swimming pool in Texas!"
The following list, in no particular order, is the top 50 condominium projects as of the end of 2007, within the proximity of downtown, or a drive time of no more than ten minutes to downtown. This is by no means meant to serve as a complete list, as new projects seem to crop up overnight, but rather as a guide to help you become more educated about these new developments.
